On the first day of our trip we will travel from Bishkek to Karakol, on the way visit Burana, a yurt camp on the south shore of Issyk Kul, Fairy Tale canyon and Djety Oguz gorge.
Our first big stop will be at the Burana complex - here we will literally plunge into history. According to estimates of archaeologists, the Burana Tower was built in 10-11 centuries, experts call this period the heyday of the Turkic state of the Karakhanids. The capital at that time was the city of Balasagun, and the Burana tower was the center of the spiritual life of the region. We will explore all the most interesting objects on the territory of the historical complex and then continue our journey to Issyk Kul.
Closer to noon, we will arrive at the yurt camp, located very near to the lake, where we will have lunch. After the meal, we will go to the Fairy Tale canyon. This beautiful place is half an hour’s drive from the camp and differs very much from all other landscapes of Issyk Kul. One of the most beautiful gorges called Barskaun gorge is located 40 minutes from Fairy Tale canyon. We will visit a waterfall called “Tears of snow-leopard” there, which is very easy to get.
After walking on the Barskaun gorge, we will go to the Djety Oguz gorge, according to legend, seven rocks that we can see in this gorge once were seven bulls that belonged to a very rich man. The legend says that once the bulls were attacked by the wolves, but the bulls stood in a row, closely pressed against each other, leaned forward, bowing their heads, and so petrified, turned into seven red rocks. And they still stand like that. Djety Oguz can be explored on foot or by car.
Later this evening we arrive in Karakol, we will stay in a guest house created by a Kyrgyz-Dutch family and go for dinner.
On the second day of the tour we will go to the Altyn Arashan gorge, famous for its beautiful landscapes and hot springs. The road to the gorge is quite complicated and you can get there only on off-road vehicles (including the Soviet ones), so this trip is a real adventure! A trip to Altyn Arashan will take almost the whole day. You will see the beautiful nature of Tien Shan, visit the hot springs, have lunch in a guest house in the mountains. Later in the evening we will return to Karakol, have dinner and go to rest.
Having breakfast, we will leave our guest house and we will walk around Karakol city. This city was one of the first settlements that were founded in the Issyk Kul basin after the voluntary entry of Kyrgyzstan into Russia in the 19th century and is very interesting with his main attractions like Russian Orthodox Cathedral and Dungan Mosque. Then we will head to Jyrgalan valley, we will arrive at Jyrgalan to the lunch, after lunch we will walk to the Kok Bel waterfall, then we will come back to the guest house, where will have a hot dinner and cozy rooms.
On the 4th day we will leave Jyrgalan village by north shore of Issyk Kul lake. We will go through beautiful Semenov and Georgiev gorges on the way to Cholpon Ata. In Cholpon Ata, we will visit the interesting cultural complex Ruch Ordo, known with the Museum of Five Religions. After exploring the museum, we will go for lunch and then continue our trip. We will arrive in Bishkek in the evening. After the tour, we can drop you to the hotel or directly to Manas airport (no extra charge).
In the yurt camp on the shore of Issyk Kul you can see a demonstration of hunting with eagles (surcharge – 5000 soms from the group).
