On the first day of our trip we will travel from Bishkek to south shore of Issyk Kul, on the way we will visit Burana, a yurt camp on the south shore of Issyk Kul, Fairy Tale canyon and Barskaun gorge.
Our first big stop will be at the Burana complex. This archaeological and architectural complex is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. We will visit one of the oldest structures on the territory of Kyrgyzstan - the Burana tower. The height of the tower is more than 20 meters, and it has a beautiful view from the top! We will explore all the most interesting objects on the territory of the historical complex and then continue our journey to Issyk Kul.
We will arrive at the yurt camp closer to noon and have lunch. After the meal, we will go to the Fairy Tale canyon. This beautiful place is half an hour's drive from the camp and differs very much from all other landscapes of Issyk Kul.
There is one of the most beautiful gorges in 40 minutes from Fairy Tale Canyon - the Barskaun gorge. We will visit a waterfall called “Tears of snow-leopard” there. It is very easy to get. Later in the evening we will back to the yurt camp, we will stay in a traditional yurt and have dinner there.
After breakfast in yurt camp we will head to Karakol. On the way, we will visit an amazing place called Djety Oguz gorge and which is famous for its red rocks. The beauty of this place will not leave you indifferent. Djety Oguz can be explored on foot, by car or by riding horses in a small village very close to (horses are given for an extra fee).
Later this evening we will stay in a guest house created by a Kyrgyz-Dutch family and go for dinner.
Early in the morning we will go to Altyn Arashan hot springs, but before going there, we will change our car to the old Soviet car. The road to the gorge is quite complicated and you can get there only on off-road vehicles, so this trip is a real adventure!
A trip to Altyn Arashan will take almost the whole day. You will see the beautiful nature of Tien Shan, visit the hot springs, have lunch in a guest house in the mountains. Later in the evening we will return to Karakol, have dinner and go to rest.
After breakfast, we will leave our guest house and we will walk around Karakol city, which is very interesting with his main attractions like Russian Orthodox Cathedral, Dungan Mosque. Then we will head to Jyrgalan valley, we will arrive at Jyrgalan to the lunch, after lunch we will walk to the Kok Bel waterfall, then we will come back to the guest house, where will have a hot dinner and cozy rooms.
After breakfast, we say leave our friendly hosts of the guest house and return to Bishkek. We will leave valley by northern shore of Issyk-Kul lake, on the way we will visit Semenov and Grigoriev gorges. In Cholpon Ata, we will visit the interesting cultural complex of Rukh Ordo, known with the Museum of Five Religions. After exploring the museum, we will go for lunch and then continue our trip.
We will arrive in Bishkek in the evening. After the tour, we can drop you to the hotel or directly to Manas airport (no extra charge).
In the yurt camp on the shore of Issyk Kul you can see a demonstration of hunting with eagles (surcharge – 5000 soms from the group).
In the gorge Djety Oguz you can also rent horses for horseback riding, surcharge 500 soms per hour for one horse.
You can take all necessary things. Please take into consideration that in summer time the temperature in Bishkek city reaches up to 40 °C and in the mountains the temperature decreases to 10 °C. Be prepared for unexpected changes of the weather.
Recommended: rain-coat, sweater/fleece, wind-stopper, enough t-shirts and other underwear (think of taking smth with long sleeves to avoid sunburns), hat (remember – the sun can be violent), sun-screen cream (30 or higher), insect repellent (skin + clothes), good trekking boots for easy hikes in the mountains, walking shoes (don’t need heavy ones) for the city walks, flash light (torch).
Personal first aid kit (most likely problems: blisters, sunburns, allergy, diarrhoea, sore muscles after hikes. Take painkillers, anti-histaminic, antibiotics of general action, and anything you need for your usual medical conditions), personal hygiene kit (disinfection gel is highly recommended) + some toilet paper.
A small towel, swimming suit (for Issyk-Kul), sunglasses, photo camera, notepad and a pen to make notes as you travel, a smaller backpack, except for your normal suitcase.
